Simple Elegance Afghan

Voila! I don't think of myself as a very fast knitter. After all, it took me, what, six months to finish the Florence Scarf? You would think that an afghan that's 180 stitches across with 5 repeats of a 40 row stripe pattern would wear a girl down. That's 36,000 stitches, give or take error or two, but I never grew tired of knitting this.

I'm still surprised that I had the desire to knit an afghan in the first place, but it's been well worth it. It looks good, and despite the fact that it sheds fluffy mohair all over me, it's super warm and cozy. (Just in time for summer!) It's like a big hug from a flock of sheep.

All that's left now is to weave in the ends and apply the fringe. I may just save that for the weekend, since I'm way ahead of the Brooklin Spring Fair's drop off date of May 31.

P.S. I totally missed it, but this little blog turned 1 year old on May 10!

Finally a good picture of it! Very nice. This summer so far has proved that having an afgan on hand is a very good idea!

It looks beautiful. I love the colour and texture contrast.

Hi from Austria! First of all: Happy blogiversary! And then, oh my, congratulations on finishing that afghan, it looks fantastic, absolutely beautiful! That's certainly a huge project and may be overwhelming to start, but you did it in almost no time and the result is so great!
